The one question I have is why can't huck see that Jim isn't use to having a young friend like that. Throughout the whole book, Jim has been Hucks best friend, and the only person Huck actually likes, so why can't Huck understand Jim doesn't respond to that type of childish friendship? He is a grown man, even though he isn't educated like one, he still is grown and with that has a higher maturity level than Huck. Huck needs to figure out that he can't play tricks on Jim like that or else Jim might just leave him
The takeaway I got from these chapters, is the same take away I got out of the last couple chapters. Friendship is a key through this book. And with that, comes miscommunication between Huck and Jim. Huck has to realize he can't just act like he's messing with Tom. He has befriended a grown slave that doesn't understand the mind of a child and with they perceive as joking humor between friends. And Jim needs to remember that Huck is only a child and will be mischievous wit his friendships.
I really dislike the fact Huck would think about turning Jim in. I personally put friendship on a high pedestal. Up there with family and self. And huck is pretty much thinking about going against how most people would treat their friends. I feel bad for Jim but at the same time, realize Huck is in a tough situation with this problem. I feel a connection with Huck because of this because this shows the everyday situations people go through. Of course on a scale blown out of proportion, but still the same principle.
